<image:caption>(he/him) is very excited to be joining Poison Apple as an instructor! For well over a decade, James has accrued valuable experience as an actor, singer, production assistant, director, writer, and educator. Since graduating with honors from San Francisco State University’s School of Theatre and Dance, James has had the privilege of performing at a number of Bay Area theatre companies. He’s been a part of a wide range of productions ranging from classical to contemporary to musical to touring children’s shows. He’s also directed short films and worked on independent films, major Hollywood studio productions, and commercials as a production assistant and actor. Through theatre James was able to find his way to becoming an educator, from his time as a teaching assistant at CalShakes to then becoming a teaching artist with Bay Area Children’s Theatre. He’s also an active substitute teacher in West Contra Costa wherein he’s been able to implement his love of theatre into his regular teaching to keep his students engaged. Outside of his love for theatre and film, James is a staunch advocate for mental health awareness, human rights, and a firm believer that we don’t have to be mean to make great art.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team - Managing Director, Cookie Smith and Vice President, Ricky Smith</image:title>
<image:caption>Cookie and Ricky were introduced to theater when their son Gavin had his first production (Seeds I) in 2017 at the age of 5. Since joining the board at the end of 2022, they are learning more about how a non-profit theater company operates and helping out however possible. Cookie (she/her) has been in elementary education for 16 years as a teacher and currently as an early literacy coach. She received a B.A. in Liberal Studies from SFSU, a Multiple Subject Credential from CSUEB, and a Master of Arts Teacher Leadership from SMC. Ricky (he/him) has been working for a medical software company specializing in radiation oncology for 14 years in various roles, currently managing international sales and marketing. Prior to that he earned a B.A. from SFSU’s Department of Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts with an emphasis in media business and a minor in marketing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Jen (she/her) has a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. She works part time as a dental hygienist allowing her time to volunteer in activities she’s passionate about which includes Poison Apple. Jen cannot remember a time where Poison Apple hasn’t been a big part of her family’s life, as her son, Sully has been there since 2014. He has had the opportunity to experience many programs at Poison Apple, including Seeds 1-3, MainStage, Shakespeare, Teens and JTF. She is grateful to Poison Apple for its professionalism, inclusion, and dedication to providing a safe space for children to grow, learn and enjoy musical theatre.</image:caption>
