Dance for Musical Theater
(AGES 9 - 18)
Dance for Musical Theater: The theme of this class is Dance for the Stage: Strengthening Movement in Musical Theatre.
Students will work to expand their dance abilities through introduction to steps, songs, and choreographic elements across eras of musical theatre. Dancers will explore intentionality and bodily awareness, classic choreographers, and the history of musical theatre through the lens of dance. Students will convey their work via a brief sharecase at the end of class.
Age: 9 - 18
Participation Fee: $200*

Class Days + Time: The first day of class is mandatory for participation.
Fridays 5:15-6:45 beginning Friday September 5 (no class Friday 10/7, or Friday 10/31 - students may attend the Advanced Class on Wednesday of these weeks if they wish)
Final Class: Friday November 14
*Students cast in Fiddler on the Roof jr or beetlejuice jr may apply a 50% discount at Registration
Advanced Dance for Musical Theater: The theme of this class is Storytelling through Movement: Exploring Plot and Emotion Physically.
Students will work to develop themselves as dancers by exploring their personal movement style through the framework of musical theatre. Dancers will work to convey complex themes and stories through movement while examining the position of dance in musical theatre. Students will convey their work via a juried mock-audition process at the end of class.
Age: 9 - 18 with Instructor Permission

Wednesdays 7:00-9:00 beginning Wednesday September 3
Final Class: Wednesday November 12
