Plan Your Visit to a Poison Apple Show!

We proudly perform in two locations throughout our season:

THE POISON APPLE PLAYHOUSE IN MARTINEZ, CA

Our beloved converted warehouse theater space features a 65 seat convertible blackbox style theater, equipped with a fully working lighting grid, and a volunteer engineered turn table fondly named “The Whipple” after the retired CalTrans engineer who designed it for us in 2019!

As William Shakespeare wrote “though she be but small, she be mighty!” The majority of Poison Apple Productions are staged right here - tucked away in the John Muir Business park past Walmart and Public Storage right next to our friends at In Motion Dance Studio!

THE LESHER CENTER FOR THE ARTS IN WALNUT CREEK, CA

Our higher level programs of Apple Teens, JTF Ensemble, and Main Stage Productions frequent the Lesher three times a year - twice in the smallest converted Vukasin Black Box style theater space, and once a year for our biggest blockbuster summer production in the middle sized Margaret Lesher proscenium style theater.

We have a longstanding positive relationship with the Lesher Center and are honored to be allowed to perform in this performing arts space in Walnut Creek!

About Shows at the Poison Apple Playhouse in Martinez

Thrust Style Stage Set Up - Most Commonly used for our Educational Theater Performances like Apple Seeds.

835 Arnold Drive Bay 6, Martinez CA 94553

The lobby for our shows will open 45 minutes prior to the start of shows. The house will open for seating 15 minutes before the show is scheduled to begin.

Playhouse Seating

We use a thrust style seating style most frequently for our Apple Seeds productions at the Playhouse. Our space is convertible, so depending on the production and director, we may have a different set up for each show. We can also set up our space to perform in the round, utilizing our turn table stage with audience on all four sides. We encourage our audience to check ticketing details for seating configurations. Click here for our ticketing policies.

Rules of the House

This “Round” style of seating features audience around all sides of the stage, and may even feature our Turn Table “the Whipple!” This is primarily used for our Teen and Main Stage productions.

We at Poison Apple believe that audiences should be respectful of our live performers onstage by being present members of the audience. We do not allow late seating in our playhouse space. Audiences should plan to use the restroom in advanced of the show and/or at intermission if one is offering during the production. In the theater, it is considered disrespectful to text, check the time, and make or take a call during the show. We have a licensed videographer, who records our shows to share with you as part of your participation fee. Please note that it is a serious violation of Poison Apple’s License agreement with Musical Theatre International to take any personal photos or videos during our production today. There will be time to take photos onstage after the actors final bow! Thank you for setting a good example for your children to follow the rules. Please remember that our young actors onstage today can see and hear you. Please do not wave, talk to or about our hard-working actors during the show, but please do applaud after musical numbers, and laugh if you find the dialogue funny, and of course, cheer for our young artists during their final bows! The audience is the final magical ingredient of any theatrical production, and we’re glad you’re making magic with us.

Parking at the Playhouse

Parking at our Martinez space can be a challenge as we share the lot with other businesses. We recommend arriving early for showtimes to find a spot. We ask our audience NOT to park in the assigned spaces for our neighbors at In Motion Dance Studio. All other spaces in the lot are available to park in, with one designated handicap space in our lower lot.

We ask that drivers are cautious in our lot to protect all families frequenting our performing arts parking lot!

Please contact Jerry Chirip our Audience Services Board Member if you have further accessibility needs or questions.

Concession Offerings

We serve coffee, tea, select sodas and bottled waters. We also offer select candies and crunchies that we hope audience members will remember not to crinkle during the show, but will enjoy preshow, or during intermission. We are a nut free premises to protect children with severe peanut and tree-nut allergies. Some select productions may offer a specialty beverage, or baked good offering. All concessions are available starting at $2.
